Dr. hab. Zbigniew Karaczun, Associate Prof. – WULS (SGGW)

Biography

Professor in the Department of Environmental Protection of Warsaw University of Life Science – SGGW. Since 1992, studies the integration of environmental policy into sector policies. Specializes in environmental management and environmental and climate policy. Author of more than 300 publications.

In 1998-2002 advisor to the Minister of the Environment for the European integration. Co-author of Polish negotiating position in the area of Environment, participated in the negotiations on the conditions of the state aid to businesses. Since 2004 leads, for the European Commission, the analysis of the environmental impact of Polish accession to the European Union.

Since 2008 member of the Monitoring Team, to support the European Commission in the assessment of the environmental effects of the EU financial instrument LIFE+.

Active in non-governmental organizations, the current President of the Polish Ecological Club Mazovian Branch and expert of the Polish Climate Coalition. In 1996-2000 director of Climate Action Network Central and Eastern Europe. At present, an expert of the Polish NGOs Climate Coalition.
